Classical Homeopathy Consultations
What is Classical Homeopathy?
The word homeopathy is derived from the Greek words homoios, meaning similar and pathos, meaning suffering. It is based on the principle that like cures like, called “The Law of Similars”.
Since the formal inception of homeopathic practice by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in 1805, thousands of medical doctors and other natural health care practitioners have dedicated their lives to careful medical experimentation and observation of the effects of homeopathic remedies. Around the year 1900, treating patients in Homeopathic hospitals was common practice in contries all over the world, such as in Europe, the United States and India.
Unfortunately, with the pharmaceutical industry taking over the medical field, in the 20th century, Classical Homeopathy had to a back seat in mainstream medicine. However, it has continued to be one of the most practiced modalities by naturopaths and number of medical doctors with specialization in natural healing in Europe and India.
Choosing the Correct Remedy
Classical homeopathy is a holistic therapy. The individual is considered as a whole and symptoms from the body, mind, and spirit are considered by the Homeopath when choosing a homeopathic remedy for the patient.
Homeopathy also takes into consideration a person’s environment and lifestyle, providing individualized treatment for the person. No two people with a headache receive the same remedy. Instead, Classical Homeopathy most closely matches the totality of the individual’s symptoms and personality with the homeopathic remedy in order to stimulate the body’s own natural healing response.
In classical homeopathy, the use of a single remedy at a time is a basic principle.
What’s in Homeopathic Remedies?
Homeopathic remedies are made from infinitesimal amounts of substances from either planst, animal substances, minerals or other biological sources. There are more than 3,500 known remedies available. Each specific remedy is made from only one plant, animal, mineral, or biological source. Homeopathic remedies have been approved by the FDA since 1939 and are manufactured in strict accordance with the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States and Drug Manufacturing Practices. In Canada, homeopathic remedies are regulated as natural health products.
These remedies have been diluted by as much as one part in ten billion and beyond. All potencies above 6D have none of the original molecules of the mother tincture. Remedies with potencies of 7D and higher, such as 30C, 200C etcetera, have retained the energy of the original substance. They are pure energy medicine. Repeated dilution with succussion (shaking the remedy vigorously with impact) releases the “potency” of the substance while eliminating any potential side effects or toxicity. This is referred to as the “law of the infinitesimal dose”.
Combination remedies, mixtures of two or more remedies at a time, move away from the holistic or classical approach. These combination remedies are usually prepared in low potencies and are mainly used in acute cases by lay people attempting to treat a specific disease, and not the person as a whole.
The highest ideal of cure is the speedy, gentle and enduring restoration of health by the most trustworthy and least harmful way.
